So much fun and beautiful views on a Bosphorus boat trip!

Our larger group travels together once a year - my husband's and my close circle. Honestly, sometimes we have a hard time agreeing, but there was no doubt about this cruise. Everyone enjoyed it! The host could lecture on hospitality to many, he is amazing. We felt totally relaxed and powerful, like Turkish aghas. For me, Ortaköy Mosque is so beautiful and so close to the coast that it seemed as if we were walking next to it. The yacht itself is very modern, spacious, and clean. The crew seemed well organized, so we felt safe the whole time. In short, I would recommend a boat tour on Bosphorus!

My first time on a yacht and the feeling was great!

This was the perfect starting tour in Istanbul as we saw much of the city, especially the distinctions between different neighborhoods. The audio guide was helpful. Learning about the Ottoman collections in the Dolmabahçe Palace and the World's biggest chandelier made us want to visit the Palace on the same day! With plenty of snacks, we didn't even need lunch on that day. The star of this cruise was a yacht - for us the first time ever on a yacht and it felt soooo goood! It really left an impression. A hundred recommendations for this boat tour while in Istanbul!

DESCRIPTION

Bosphorus Boat Tour

FROM THE GOLDEN HORN TO THE BOSPHORUS

Upon arrival at the meeting point, you will meet your host and board the yacht at the Golden Horn, the primary inlet of the Bosphorus. It is considered the most important natural harbor in the world. As the yacht sets sail, you will first cruise the Golden Horn and the European part of Istanbul. Passing under the Galata Bridge, you will sail from the Golden Horn toward the Bosphorus, and on your left, you will see the Galata Tower! On your right is the Old City of Istanbul, home to two of its most recognizable landmarks. First is the Blue Mosque, famous for its interior decorated with more than 20,000 blue Iznik tiles and beautiful stained-glass windows. The second is the Hagia Sophia, built in the 6th century, representing a brilliant architectural achievement of the Byzantine era.

TRAVEL NORTHWARD ON THE BOSPHORUS

Our route continues northward, with many scenic views. Towards the Asian side of Istanbul, you will spot the Maiden’s Tower. Located on a small islet, the Maiden’s Tower was initially built back in the year 1110. In its past, it served as a lighthouse, a military base, and a quarantine station. As you turn north, on your left side, look at the neighborhood of Karaköy. This historic part of the city hosts old Ottoman-era buildings with a new twist in the shape of late-night cocktail bars and modern coffee shops. Soon, you will reach the Dolmabahçe Mosque and the Bosphorus Bridge. The first of the two was built in a baroque style and is very close to the water, giving you the perfect view as you sail by. Make sure to consult your audio guide to find out more regarding any of the mentioned landmarks! If you're planning to visit the famous Dolmabahçe Palace as well, consider booking our Bosphorus Cruise and Dolmabahçe Palace Ticket. It’s a great way to combine two iconic experiences by exploring the palace on land and admiring it from the water.

ENJOY FOOD AND BEVERAGES ON BOARD

You will experience your journey through the Golden Horn and Bosphorus on a 66-foot (20-meter) long yacht. To enhance your experience, you will have your pick from a selection of fresh seasonal fruits, mixed nuts, and homemade mini pizza snacks. The food is complemented with tea, water, and coffee. Enjoy the spectacular views while being served by our attentive yacht staff.

Interesting facts about the Bosphorus Strait

  • This iconic strait has a staggering length of 19 miles (31 kilometers), while its width varies from 2,395 feet (730 meters) to 10,827 feet (3,300 meters).
  • It is the 2nd busiest strait, with over 130 vessels traversing it daily, not counting local naval traffic.
  • As Bosphorus connects the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea, the nature of its currents and the temperature differences of the water makes it perfect for attracting lots of fish. That provides an additional element of contribution towards the economy.
  • The Bosphorus Strait has two underwater tunnels connecting the two landmasses. The one called Marmaray is a commuter rail line tunnel connecting the neighborhoods of Üsküdar and Yenikapı. Its underwater section beneath the Bosphorus is about 1.4 km long, while the entire Marmaray railway line stretches about 76.6 km across Istanbul. The other tunnel, Eurasia, is meant for motor vehicles and runs between Kazlıçeşme and Göztepe.
